Language : present simple vs present continuous, stative verbs


We use the present simple to talk about something we do regularly. We use the present continuous to talk abut an action happening now or a temporary situation.


• I work in an IT Department. This week I’m managing the department because my manager is away.


Stative verb (e.g. like, know, understand) describe states rather than actions. We don’t usually use the present continuous with stative verb.
